January Thursday 27th Jane Rix & John Nicolle attend the Britain in Bloom ‘Finalists Seminar’ in Liverpool.
January Saturday 8th – Saturday 26th February New path construction at Moulin Huet Valley.
February Saturday 5th – Saturday 19th March Japanese knotweed clearance at lower
March Tuesday 8th Erection of Bill Warry’s 2nd Floral Pole (at The Community Centre).
March Tuesday 8th Trees trimmed and pond cleaned at School.
March Sunday 20th Preparation of area for tree planting at St. Martin’s Primary School.
March Saturday 26th RHS, Woodland Trust and the “Little Tree Project” plant up 100 trees at St. Martin’s Primary School as part of a project to plant up 200,000 trees – the largest national tree planting scheme ever.
April Saturday 10th and every second Saturday until September Car Parking collections at The Farmers’ Market at Sausmarez Manor. Helpers needed.
April Wednesday 27th The 10th Blooming Good Evening in the Parish Hall. Supper, Raffle, Auction. Entertainment by the GU10 Shanty Group. Tickets NOW ON SALE from John Nicolle Tel. 237413 (only 120 places available)
May Monday 16th Summer planting begins. Extra helpers most welcome.
June Sunday 19th Open Garden at Le Vallon curtesy of Maj. & Mrs. A. Philippi 2.00 – 4.30 with an organised Abreuveur Walk. Afternoon Teas etc. Funds for St. Martin’s Floral & a local charity.
July Sunday 2nd Open Garden at Feremina curtesy of Mr. & Mrs. D. Briginshaw 2.00 p.m. Afternoon Teas etc. funds for Action Aid Guernsey.
July Wednesday 13th Floral Guernsey ‘Awards Presentation Evening’ at Le Côtils.
July Saturday 9th – Sunday 17th Summer Floral Guernsey ‘Festival Week’.
August Monday 1st – Monday 8th St, Martin’s Parish is judged for Britain in Bloom. 2 RHS judges are Rae Beckwith and John Woodward. Judging Route starts at The Parish Hall and ends at Sausmarez Manor with a BBQ. SE Parishes (St. Martin’s section only) Floral Business Awards announced.
August Wednesday 17th St. Martin’s Floral Summer Lunch. At the Le Chalet Hotel. Just over 40 people attended.
September Saturday 24th – Sunday 2nd Oct Autumn Floral Guernsey ‘Festival Week’
September Sunday 25th Britain in Bloom Awards Presentation in St. Andrews, Scotland.
October Saturday 5th 5 St. Martin’s Committee Members attended the Floral Guernsey Lunch at Auberge du Val and the walk along part of St. Saviour’s Judging Route.
October Monday 31st Start of Winter planting.
November Wednesday 9th Vin D’Honneur 7.30 in St. Martin’s Parish Hall to celebrate the Parish winning a Gold Award and Best “Small Town” Award in Britain in Bloom. 120 people attended, the new Floral sweatshirts were worn for the first time and 2011 Paris calendars sold.

Friday 9th Joint Floral and Douzaine Dinner at Saints Bay for 48 people.

Tuesday 20th another Big Breakfast was held at the Croix Guérin Café. 20 people attended.
2012
January
Tuesday 3rd We emailed the Canadian authorities with our acceptance of the invitation to become an entrant in the 2012 Communities in Bloom (Collectivités en fleur) international Challenge.
